Phillipa Salm – 2016 NSW Exceptional Young Woman in Mining

Mining Supervisor, Mount Thorley Warkworth, Coal & Allied 

Phillipa is a determined, passionate and ambitious professional mining engineer who has extensive experience in technical mining disciplines, with goals to gain experience in leadership and people management through a production supervisor position. Attaining the Open Cut Examiner’s ticket in 2015 was a step towards this goal. 

Phillipa is committed to not only the minerals sector as a whole but also to the advancement of women in this industry and demonstrates this by acting as a mentor and role model. 

She personally spearheaded a campaign to obtain funding to participate in the WIMnet Mentoring Program and also funding for Coal & Allied’s sponsorship of the program at the highest level.
