Industry 16 August 2016
Esther Bruce – 2016 Outstanding NSW Tradeswoman/Operator/Technician

Electrical and Instrumentation Technician, CMOC-Northparkes Mines

You may have heard of trades being passed down from grandfather to father to son. While Esther Bruce’s father and grandfather are electricians, her brother was interested in another career but Esther was the one with a passion for the electrical trade.

Esther has worked at CMOC-Northparkes Mines (Northparkes) for over a decade and has worked her way from Apprentice Electrician to Electrical and Instrumentation Technician. Esther is an inspirational tradeswoman who displays a high level of technical expertise in her field and is considered the site authority on electrical instrumentation. Esther has a strong passion for instrumentation and enjoys the many challenges and variety this field of work provides.

In addition to her technical expertise, Esther has mentored several young women at Northparkes and in the community. Esther has mentored high school students, apprentices and university students interested in the electrical trade. Esther is a proud advocate of her trade and the mining industry and was one of five employees selected to speak in front of federal, state and local government representatives at the Northparkes 20th Anniversary ceremony. Esther also promotes careers in mining at quarterly career nights.
