For the first time in three years, 500 miners from across NSW will attend the 2022 NSW Minerals Council  Health, Safety, Environment and Community Conference (HSEC) in the Hunter region today.

This is one of the NSW mining industry’s most important events and will have special significance this year as the first time since 2019 that members and supply businesses from our world-class mining industry have been able to meet after several years of COVID-related postponements.

The theme for this year’s conference is ‘HSEC360: Reconnected’ and will feature a range of speakers from industry and government focusing on breakthroughs in workplace health and safety, community relations, and environmental management. Award winners will also be named in four categories,  recognising excellence and innovation across the sector.

“After several postponements over the last few years due to COVID, it’s fantastic to be once again able to welcome 500 miners from across NSW to our flagship event,” NSW Minerals Council CEO Stephen  Galilee said today.

“This important event brings us together from across NSW to discuss our challenges, identify opportunities, celebrate excellence, and focus on how we can continue to improve in the future,” he said.

A highlight of the Conference will be our NSW Mining Health, Safety, Environment & Community Awards,  showcasing the best innovations from across the industry in NSW.

Each of the nine finalists has been chosen for their breakthroughs and achievement in ‘worker’s health’,  ‘mine safety’, ‘environmental sustainability’ and ‘community engagement’.

“As always, our award entrants are of a very high standard, demonstrating our industry’s commitment to improving our workplace and environmental practices and our engagement with local mining communities,” Mr Galilee said.
