Dartbrook could be sold

Industry 10 December 2014

Anglo American CEO Mark Cutifani has today announced that the company is considering the sale of its Dartbrook coal mine in the Upper Hunter.

Dartbrook is an underground mine that ceased operations on 1

st

January 2007 and is currently under care and maintenance.

The sale process will start in the second half of 2015 with Callide mine in Queensland also being put up for sale alongside Dartbrook.

‘We have indicated a couple of coal assets in Australia will be considered for sale,” Mr Cutifani said today.

‘We have also indicated, when talking about some of the coal assets in South Africa, that we have just started to talk with stakeholders in terms of domestic supply on the thermal coal side.’

Anglo American remains confident of the future of the NSW mining industry and will submit its third proposal

to the NSW Government

for its Drayton South mine extension in early 2015.
