Mining (Development Consent) Amendment Bill 2013
The NSW Minerals Council is the peak industry association for the state’s $24.5 billion mining industry, representing around 100 mining production, exploration, operator and supplier businesses.
The NSW Minerals Council strongly supports the Mining (Development Consent) Amendment Bill 2013 currently before NSW Parliament.
The Bill will protect the integrity of the mining titles regime in NSW and provide certainty for existing mining leases across NSW.
The Bill is in response to possible uncertainty created by a legal challenge to an existing Mining Lease, with broader potential implications across the NSW mining industry.
We commend the NSW Government for its determination to deliver certainty on this issue and urge the NSW Parliament to pass the Bill as soon as possible to protect jobs, investment, and the NSW economy more broadly.
