New Coalface magazine to give voice to mining community
The NSW Minerals Council has today welcomed the launch of a new independent magazine in the Hunter to highlight the real faces of mining in the Hunter Valley – the thousands of Hunter mining workers and their families.
Published by ‘People Brands T/A’,
Coalface
will be a monthly publication focusing on mining in Hunter communities. As well as providing a news-based snapshot of the industry,
Coalface
will focus on the local small businesses, mining workers, their stories, and their lifestyle in the Hunter.
As a free publication,
Coalface
will be widely available up and down the Hunter at sponsor locations including service stations, café’s and even McDonalds restaurants.
NSW Minerals Council CEO Stephen Galilee said
Coalface
was an exciting new publication that complemented NSW Mining’s
Voice for Mining
initiative.
“
Coalface
is a fantastic new magazine with something in it for everyone. I congratulate the team at
Coalface
for taking the initiative to put this community-based publication together,” Mr Galilee said.
“
Coalface
also strongly complements NSW Mining’s
Voice for Mining
initiative, including our new
Voice for Mining
website which seeks to harness online the grass-roots voices of support for mining that we know are out there.
“Our website
, will help us to do that, starting with Facebook and using the hashtag
#voiceformining
on Twitter, and we encourage people to get involved.”
Recent researched commissioned by the NSW Minerals Council found that 70 per cent of NSW residents support the state’s mining industry and 89 per cent believe mining is important for the future of the state.
“Mining is strongly supported in the community and particularly in the Hunter so we know there will be strong interest in what
Coalface
has to offer,” Mr Galilee continued.
“We look forward to working closely with the team at
Coalface
to help ensure the voices for mining are loudly heard.”
