NSW Government Plan for the Future of the Hunter

Industry 25 November 2015

The New South Wales Minerals Council welcomes the release of the draft action plan for the future of the Hunter region. The Plan recognises the importance of the mining industry for the Hunter and the role mining plays in supporting Hunter communities, local jobs, and the region’s economy.

“Recognition in the Plan that coal mining will be an ongoing priority in the Hunter region is an important acknowledgement that mining generates significant export value in NSW, supports thousands of local jobs, and provides opportunities for businesses based in and around the Hunter region,” Mr Galilee said.

“A strong mining sector is critical for the Hunter region as one of the key economic and employment drivers in NSW. This plan recognises that, and we look forward to working with the Government into the future on its implementation.” he said.
