Political Parties Respond to NSWMC Election Policy Manifesto
With the election just over a week away, the political parties have been providing their responses to our election policy manifesto.
Importantly, the Coalition and Labor have both ruled out any form of coalition of a power-sharing agreement with the NSW Greens.
Both have also made strong commitments to the future of our sector.
According to the Coalition response, “The NSW Government strongly supports our mining industry and the benefits it brings to the people of NSW.”
Labor has also expressed support for a strong future for the NSW mining sector, including the ongoing role and contribution of the coal sector.
The Coalition and Labor have both committed to no increases in mining royalties in the next term of Parliament, and to keep any increases in industry fees and levies to no more CPI.
Both have also undertaken to support the Upper Hunter Mining Dialogue, and indigenous school education programs including the Clontarf Foundation.
Both have promised to keep the Resources for Regions program, with Labor promising to review the funding model and maintain funding for the program to at least what has been provided under the Coalition Government.
Responses have also been received from the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party and the Liberal Democrats.
The Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party were the first to respond to our Manifesto survey.
Their reply has been overwhelmingly positive, with commitments to support a range of policies to assist our sector, as well as a strong acknowledgement of the role of coal.
The Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party have also released a Mining and Energy Policy and Farming Policy
The Liberal Democrats have also assured our sector of their strong support if elected.
