Quarry Mining building on a 30 year partnership with the NSW mining industry

Uncategorized 27 March 2014

A 30 year partnership with the NSW mining industry has generated huge opportunities for Kari Armitage’s family business,

Quarry Mining

, which is now one of Australia’s leading manufacturers of high quality drilling equipment.

Kari Armitage took over as General Manager of Quarry Mining in 2006, established and grown from very humble beginnings by her parents in 1983.

“My father came to Australia as a Norwegian immigrant and established Quarry Mining with the vision of passing on Norwegian hard rock drilling expertise to the Australian market,” Ms Armitage said.

Under Kari’s management, Quarry Mining has seen a 950% increase in turnover and a 500% increase in staff, securing supply contracts with leading coal mines in NSW, QLD and New Zealand. The company has grown from an on-seller of products to a state of the art manufacturing facility with purpose built premises that house 8 multi tasking CNC machines and robotic technologies.

“We have gone from strength-to-strength because of successful partnerships with mining companies such as Glencore and Centennial Coal. We started as a small family business in the Hunter but our ongoing determination and growth has led us to establish a second office in Mackay last year,” Kari said.

“I’m passionate about Australian manufacturing and Australian jobs. Our partnership with the NSW mining industry has ensured Quarry Mining’s success in

Australian Made

underground drilling equipment for 30 years.

Quarry Mining is an associate member of the NSW Minerals Council and were sponsors of the

Industry and Suppliers Conference

last year.
