Scrapping the Carbon Tax is important for the growth of NSW
The passage of the Carbon Tax Repeal Bill through the House of Representatives is an important step forward in protecting jobs and fostering growth, NSW Minerals Council CEO, Stephen Galilee said today.
“We welcome the Federal Government moving to deliver on its election commitment to repeal the Carbon Tax. The tax represents a significant burden for the economy, for mining, and also for the thousands of non-mining businesses that service the resources sector from Western Sydney to Western NSW,” Mr Galilee said.
“The Carbon Tax has put NSW mining at a competitive disadvantage and seen our state diminish as an attractive investment destination”, Mr Galilee said.
“Scrapping the Carbon Tax will send an important message that NSW and Australia are again open for business – and that means jobs.”
“The Carbon Tax was resoundingly rejected by the Australian people at the last election. The Senate must respect this and vote to repeal the Carbon Tax.”
