Statement on NSW Government Support for ICAC recommendations

The NSW Minerals Council welcomes the State Government’s prompt response to the recommendations outlined in the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) Report on the management of coal resources.

A strong future for the mining sector is essential to the NSW economy but it cannot happen without a clear and robust regulatory system.

As the government moves to implement the ICAC recommendations it is essential that the industry be involved in the consultation process.

Appropriate transitional arrangements will also be required to avoid any disruption to the ongoing operation of the NSW mining industry and the many thousands of associated jobs across the state.
